KIDS

         WELCOME CHILDREN OF GOD!

YOUR FIRST VISIT

Visiting us for the first time?  Sunday School is held in our Education Center across the parking lot from the sanctuary.  Please walk in and go directly downstairs.  Our Coordinators will greet you, introduce you to your child’s teacher and answer any questions you may have.  We can’t wait to meet you and your child.

SAFETY AT ST MARK

Whether you are a member at St. Mark or just visiting – we hope and pray you feel safe here!!

To that end, here are a few of the things we do:

·     Each service has a “First Response” Team, who are members that have been certified CPR/AED trained.

·     We have security cameras posted outside in both parking lots and covering all of our entrances.

·     A background check is required for any member of our staff that works with the youth and children of the church.

·     We hold annual fire drills, led and supervised by the Lake Villa Fire Department.

·     First aid kits and portable AED units are available in both buildings.

·     We meet once a year with the Sunday School superintendents and teachers to go through security measures.

·     There is a St. Mark Safety & Security Committee that has ongoing interactions with both the local police and fire departments, and we value their feedback greatly.

WHAT WE TEACH

“Dear friends let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God.  Anyone who loves is is a child of God and knows God.” 1John 4:7

We’re excited to be involved in your child’s spiritual journey.  We look forward to helping your child learn about God and Jesus by making connections with Bible based lessons, providing opportunities to learn to pray, being involved in fun meaningful activities and listening/singing to Christian songs.  We look forward to helping your child grow their faith in a safe and loving environment.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS)

Our VBS curriculum offers a fun, engaging environment that uses hands-on Bible learning experience, music, crafts, and games to teach about God’s love and grace for all of us!

VBS is held the week after Father’s Day every summer. For 2025, it will run from 9:00am – noon for Monday, June 16th through Friday, June 20th.  VBS is available for Preschoolers (3 years of age and potty-independent) through 6th grades.  Families do not need to be members of St. Mark to participate in our VBS program.

For more information, please contact our VBS Directors at stmarkvbsfun@gmail.com.

SUNDAY NURSERY

St. Mark Lutheran Church provides a nursery service for children ages 0-4 so parents/guardians may attend church and focus on their relationship with God without any distractions.

During September - May, we offer this service on Sundays during both worship services, at 8 am and 10:30 am as well as during the Sunday School hour at 9:20 am. (June - August, the nursery is available on Sundays during the 9:30 am service).

The nursery is manned by coordinator Deb Heide and a wonderful team of experienced volunteers who cherish and nurture the children that are in their care.
Feel free to enjoy the nursery without signing up in advance as guests are also welcome to join us!

We also support and host the monthly Parents’ Morning Out (PMO) events every 4th Friday of the month as well as the quarterly Parents’ Night Out (PNO) initiatives. Registration is required for these two events. Please see specific details on our website.

We look forward to meeting you and spending time with your child/children during this Christian fellowship time; either during church Sunday school hour, and/or at the PMO/PNO events!
