OPEN ARMS MISSION
Open Arms Mission is a local food bank located on Highway 83 south of Antioch. There is a great need to supply food for the hungry in Lake County especially during these hard times. We give them 10% of our allocated benevolence budget. In addition to this we also have monthly food drives at the church to help fill their pantries. Thank you to both the members of St. Mark for your generosity, and Open Arms for the great service they provide for the needy in the county.
FEEDING KIDS. FEEDING SPIRITS. EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES.
Every year, millions of children die from preventable causes such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and undernutrition. Hunger is still causing nearly half of deaths in children under 5 years old. From this data, we estimate at least 6,200 children die each day from causes related to undernutrition. This is heartbreaking.
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) believes hope starts with food. As a Christian nonprofit, FMSC is dedicated to seeing every child whole in body and spirit. FMSC works with food distribution partners that stay with communities for the long haul, empowering them to move from relief to development.
FMSC meals are developed by food science and nutrition professionals to supplement nutritional needs and reduce problems with malnutrition. Nutrition allows children to grow, thrive and develop to their full potential.
PADS HOMELESS MINISTRY
There has been a slight change. PADS Lake County has received enough funding that they plan to be able to house all the guests in hotels for the whole 2023/2024 season. This means there will be no guests in churches this year. They are in the process of determining what help the churches can give. As soon as we know how we can help we will let everyone know. Stay tuned for updates. Jill and Laurie.
ST MARK PRISON MINISTRY
In partnership with Bill Glass Prison Ministries, we help to put on events at the prisons in the Chicago area. Your help is needed not only in ministering to inmates, but also in event logistics (such as picking up a guest speaker from the airport).
